Announcing Our First Ever Stained Glass Competition.

The contest, "Stained Glass Free For All" is open to all stained glass artists.

There will be two categories in two different competitions.

The first competition is the local "Stained Glass Free For All" which will feature the art of artists that can deliver stained glass to our studio for the competition and will be on display here at Gomm Studios.

The two categories are the "newbie" area for artists who have just started the hobby in the last two years and the seasoned "veteran" for artists that have been building glass work for more than two years.

Entries can be three dimensional, flat glass, warm glass or lampworked glass. Anything glass will be accepted. It should be a very eclectic competition!

The second competition is the distance "Stained Glass Free For All" which will feature the work of any artist from all over the world. This competition will be an on-line show. Artists can enter their work in a digital format, the work will be displayed on-line and judging will be done by participants, who will each have two votes, voting for their favorite entries.

There will be two categories in this competition as well. The two categories are the "newbie" area for artists who have just started the hobby in the last two years and the seasoned "veteran" for artists that have been building glass work for more than two years. The difference in this competition from the other is that the categories are based on your experience at the time you built the window. So you are welcome to enter a panel that was built ten years ago when you were a "newbie" or one you finished yesterday as a "veteran".

Entries can be three dimensional, flat glass, warm glass or lampworked glass. Anything glass will be accepted. Photography of the piece will play very heavily into how well the piece does, so send your best (only one photo of the piece).

LOCAL "STAINED GLASS FREE FOR ALL" GUIDELINES.

Entries must be delivered to Gomm Studios by May 16, 2011. Each piece of glass should be accompanied with an entry form (click here for PDF). The judging will take place on May 18, 2011 and will be announced on May 21st at the open house at Gomm Studios (11am to 6pm).

Prizes will be awarded for first, second and third place in each of the two categories (newbie and veteran)

Entries will be on display From May 21st thru June 18th and stained glass entries may be picked up from June 20 to 24.

Anyone may enter that can get their art to our studio and there is no limit on the number of panels entered. Each piece must have the completed entry form and there is a $10 entry fee.

DISTANCE "STAINED GLASS FREE FOR ALL" GUIDELINES.

Entries must be received by email (david@gommstudios.com) by May 16, 2011. Each entry should include one digital photo of the entry, and a completed entry form (click here for PDF), and a paypal payment of the entry fee ($5 per entry).

Prizes will be awarded for first, second and third place in each of the two categories (newbie and veteran)

Entries will be on display on our website. Each person will get two votes (per entry) and voting will take place on May 17th. The results will be posted on May 18th just before the open house for the local show begins.
