BETTER STAINEDGLASS STORE

At Gomm Stained Glass Studio, we want to make a difference in the world. We want to do good works and we enjoy making a difference. So we try to do at least one project a year to help others, to make a difference in our community, or yours.

Good Works and Charitable Donations

It started the first year we were in business, in 1983. We got a chance to donate a piece of stained glass to the "New Hope Mission" in Pierce City, Missouri and we did. We didn't ask for publicity or favor, just a chance to do good, to help make a difference.

We've kept up the tradition, every chance we get, we try to donate stained glass. To the charity auction for a friend's sick mother, to the city that needed to honor a citizen, to the young women's group who excelled at camp and even to the Art Center that needed Stained Glass in their North Gallery, we've donated stained glass trying to make a difference.

In 2008, we came up with a more formal way to make a difference, to make more of a difference. And we'd like to invite you to be part of it. We call it, "Donations With A Focus."

Here's how it works, you submit the name of an organization or group or business or non-profit who is in need, and we'll try to help. The idea is that if we can build a stained glass window for that organization or civic center, we can provide a focal point for good. We will design a stained glass window or windows which will make a difference, and provide a beautiful focal point for the organization. Then, together, you or your organization and we will try to find someone who will help fund the project.

The idea here is that it's easier to raise money for the "Senior High School Project" or "The New Entrance To The School" than to just some good works committee. It's harder to get around just an idea, than to raise funding for something concrete. With the stained glass project, there can be a little fanfare, an unveiling or a grand opening, where those who donated can be honored and remembered. The plaque that goes up next to the stained glass windows can serve as a constant reminder of the company or individual who donated to the project. It gives the donor a place that they can focus on, a place that is concrete, that has substance, a reason that they gave their donation. It provides you as a fundraiser to ask for a Donation With A Focus.

We compare it to the organizational fundraisers where the kids go out and sell candy bars and t-shirts and all manner of items to raise money for their needs. Donors aren't really all that interested in the candy bars, etc. but those items serve as a focus for the donation

We aren't providing something fleeting like a candy bar, we're providing an heirloom, something that will live for hundreds of years, a monument to the organization and it's values that will celebrate the donor and the organization for years to come.

So, How Do I sign my organization up for this program?

First, decide how much you need to raise. For example, lets suppose that you'd like to raise $200,000 for your organization. We would recommend that we design a stained glass project that will cost $50,000. So, your organization and we will plan to raise $250,000. (So what's so generous about this deal?)

Here's our part, we will donate 1/2 of the art glass cost to you. So, while the project was going to cost around 50K, we're going to donate around $20,000 to the project. From the other cash outlay, 20K will pay for the material costs of the stained glass and 10K will pay for the glass to be insulated and installed. So, even though the "cost" of the stained glass project is $50,000, your organization will get the $200,000 which is over and above the expense of the project and you'll also get the $20,000 that our studio donates in the form of art glass. You get $220,000 for your organization and a $50,000 piece of art glass that will encourage and inspire for years to come.

Once you know the amount of money you need for your organization, get in touch with us. We'll want to know about you, about your organization and about the work you do in the community. We'll discuss where an art project will have the most impact and what your goals are. We'll evaluate what we can do and if we feel that we can help you, we'll put together a project proposal with drawings and even models if necessary, every thing we'll need to start the fund raising process.

Your project doesn't have to be as large as the one I've just described. We often build pieces to donate to a charitable fund raiser. We'd like to help you in your efforts.
